What We Do

Every Detail, Handled.

From your first email to the final airport transfer — a full-service safari operator rooted in Nairobi.

01
More Than a Booking Agent

A Full-Service Operator, Not a Website

Mbiti Africa Safaris is a licensed tour operator — not a platform that resells other people's trips. Everything on your safari is planned, coordinated and guided by our own team.

We're based in Westlands, Nairobi. Our guides are Kenyan. Our relationships with lodges, conservancies and communities are built over years — not bought through an aggregator. That's why the details feel different when you travel with us.

Photography

Photographic Safaris

Routes timed for golden light, guides who understand composition, and vehicles configured for serious camera gear.

Walking

Walking & Bush Safaris

Step out of the vehicle with an armed ranger. Track, read the bush and see the small things game drives miss.

Cultural Immersion

Maasai villages, Samburu communities, and honest encounters that respect the people you meet — arranged through long relationships.

Beach & Bush

Safari + Beach Combinations

The wild and the ocean in one trip — from the Mara or Amboseli to Diani, Watamu, Zanzibar or the Seychelles.

Luxury

Ultra-Luxury Journeys

Private villas, exclusive-use camps, chartered aircraft and itineraries designed around absolute privacy.

Conservation

Conservation Journeys

Travel that gives back — visits to rhino sanctuaries, chimp rehabilitation centres and community projects we support year-round.

The Practical Part

Questions About Our Services

What travellers ask us most — before they book.

Do you work with travel advisors and agencies?

Yes. We work with a growing network of travel advisors in North America, Europe and Australia. We offer confidential trade rates, co-branded itineraries, and a dedicated point of contact for every advisor. Contact us at info@mbitiafricasafaris.com to request our trade kit.

Can you book flights, visas and insurance?

Flights: We book all domestic and regional flights within East Africa (Wilson Airport to the Mara, Samburu, Amboseli; Nairobi to Kigali, Entebbe, Zanzibar). International flights you book yourself, or we can recommend a trusted specialist.

Visas: We provide full guidance on Kenya's eTA system and any other entry requirements. We don't submit applications on your behalf, but we'll walk you through it.

Insurance: We recommend comprehensive travel insurance and can arrange it through our partner providers, or you can use your own.

How does pricing work?

Every safari is priced individually based on your dates, group size, lodges and itinerary. Once we know your preferences, we'll send a detailed quote with the full breakdown — no hidden fees, no last-minute charges.

Group size matters: our rates are typically lower per person for 4 or 6 travellers than for 2, since the vehicle and guide cost is shared. Single travellers pay a supplement for a room to themselves, which we'll always flag clearly.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms vary by lodge and season. In general: cancellations more than 60 days before departure incur a small administrative fee; between 60 and 30 days, a 50% charge applies; inside 30 days, the booking is typically non-refundable.

Full terms are included with every quote. We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover unexpected changes.

Do you handle groups?

Yes — we regularly run safaris for corporate groups, extended families, photography clubs and special-interest groups. From 6 to 60 travellers, we handle all the logistics: multiple vehicles, staggered activities, group dining, and coordinated transfers.

Can you customise an existing itinerary?

Always. Every safari on our website is a starting point, not a fixed product. Swap parks, extend nights, upgrade lodges, add a beach, or rebuild the whole route — that's what we do. Just tell us what you want to change.

Do you operate in Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda?

Yes. Our core expertise is Kenya, but we run safaris across East Africa — the Serengeti and Ngorongoro in Tanzania, gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda, and beach extensions to Zanzibar. We work with trusted local partners in each country, all vetted by us.

What makes Mbiti different from other operators?

Three things. First, we're Kenyan-owned and Nairobi-based — every safari is designed and guided by people who live here. Second, we're a full operator, not a reseller — we control the experience from start to finish. Third, we work with a small number of clients each season, so every itinerary gets personal attention.
