Into the Laikipia Wilderness
Pick up from your hotel after breakfast, then proceed to the Mt. Kenya region, arriving in time for early lunch. In the afternoon, visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy — and Sweetwaters, the only sanctuary in Kenya rehabilitating widely abused chimpanzees, with two groups living in an environment as close to their natural habitat as possible.
Your first game drive begins immediately upon entry. Explore Toki Plains, Morani Loop and Ol Lerai Swamp — areas teeming with elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and Grant's gazelles. Look for lion or cheetah near shaded termite mounds, plus over 300 bird species including secretary birds and kori bustards. Your guide explains Ol Pejeta's transformation from a cattle ranch into one of Africa's leading conservation areas.
Later, visit the Endangered Species Enclosure — a 700-acre restricted area home to Najin and Fatu, the world's last two northern white rhinos. End the day watching the sun dip behind Mount Kenya.
